Our first couple weeks...

Life is good, Life is so so good. I wanted to do a quick post about our first couple weeks at home as a family of four. The first week Parker was up at night every 1.5-2 hours, it takes me about 45 minutes to feed him with nursing, burping, and diaper changes. To say we were a little sleep deprived would be an understatement. After that first week he has been doing MUCH better, which is great when your 2 years old wakes up at 6:30 ready to start his day. Will still doesn't care too much about his brother, he asks where he is, will bring him a toy or binkie, but still doesn't want to hold him and is not a big fan of me nursing or pumping. I think he knows when I do these things it cuts into time with him, but for the most part they've done pretty well together.
The two hardest parts for me are mornings and nursing. In the morning I have to feed Parker, Luke has to shower, and Will gets up and needs attention/ diaper changed/ get dressed/ breakfast. We manage just fine but Luke and I sometimes take a backseat and get ourselves together later in the day. I dread going back to work for this reason. I have no idea how we will make it out of the house before 9 am much less make it out of the house at 7. Lets not think about that just yet.
The other hard part is nursing... not Parker, he's great, and my milk supply has been great too, actually too much for him! But the days I have both boys by myself it is hard to nurse and take care of/tend to Will. But again, were doing okay and for now no ones going hungry :) Just an adjustment period for all.
The first week was also filled with visitors, they have slowed down now and just trying to make time for the final ones. Everyone has been so generous with meals it has really helped out a ton, I plan to return the favor ten fold. You forget how much it helps to pop a meal in the oven, and how little time you have to prepare anything. Monday I took Parker out, I'm not supposed to take him to the mall or big places but we needed diapers, (small 150.00 diaper stop) I ran into bed bath and beyond and he accompanied me to get a pedicure. Successful day in my book!
I'm loving every minute off work and I have no idea how I'll make it back leaving TWO this time, I've actually started looking into some new options for Will too, preschool etc. More on that later.
Luke is still working from home for the most part besides meetings and appointments. Its going good, great actually because if I do need him for a minute or two, he's usually just downstairs.
I'm sending Will to his sitter, trying for just two days a week while I'm off, I had to keep paying to hold my spot, and I also think its good for him to get out and play with his friends.

So for now, all is calm on the home front. Yes some days I feel like I'm nursing and changing diapers for two kids all... day... long. But I wouldn't change a minute of it for a single thing in the world. Loving these two boys and my sweet little family of four.

Big brother and Parker, hospital visitors

After a long labor we decided not to bring Will up Thursday, I got in my room about 3 pm and hadn't slept in about 40 hours... It was a long wait to see him till Friday afternoon but I'm glad I waited. I had time to shower and regroup, and before I knew it my little buddy was running in the door. I jumped off my bed and scooped him up in my arms. This birth was so different than Will's, with him I was in bed scared to move because of stitches. This time I was practically pain free and lifting a 30+ pound child.... offically momma of two under two!
Will opened his big brother present {a special personalized big bother book and award, new stampers, and two new movies} then it was time to check this little guy out. He didn't think too much and did not want to hold him but he kissed him and tickled him which completely melted my heart. This was it, this was our family of four, myself, my best friend, and our two wonderful sons. Life is complete.
I decided to have Will climb up on a chair so he could check this baby out, being all swaddled up he really just looked like a floating head. I'm glad we did, he really liked seeing and tickling his little feet and he was convinced his belly button stump was poo poo, "Parker you stinky, you need diapey change" "Peee Yew Parker"   Luke and I couldn't stop laughing, too funny!
After a snack and some hugs it was time for my boys to go again, Luke left both nights to take care of Will so I was on my own at the hospital, I don't mind it was nice having some alone time just Parker and I, and 85 bajillion nurses that like to come in the second you shut your eyes.

Friday morning Luke came up after he dropped Will off to check on me and see Parker I was glad he got to visit. My good friend Michelle also came by to see her newest sweet Wilson boy.
Friday night my grandma and grandpa couldn't wait any longer and came to see us.

Then in the blink of an eye we were signing papers, filling prescriptions, and loading now 7 pound 3 ounce baby in what looked like a huge car seat.

I am a pleased and proud momma to announce that my second son Parker was born January 17th, 2013 at 12:03 pm. 7 pounds 15 ounces 19 3/4" long and a very sweet sweet baby boy.
The planner in me couldn't sit around and wait any longer, I was growing more uncomfortable by the day, and as I said the doctor agreed to induce me, I was 2 cm dilated 50% effaced at my last appointment and contracting regularly (confirmed via non stress test) baby was fine but momma was done. Wednesday was spent with Will as well as getting some last minute things done and catching a nap. That evening the car was loaded up and we took William to go hang out with his papa Jim and mama Mary, he would spend the night there and they took him to his babysitter the next morning. I was glad his schedule would stay somewhat normal. Tears were shed and a very emotional momma said good by to William, knowing it would be the last time to see him till I was a mommy of two was tearing at my heart strings... It's safe to say this was the beginning of a very emotional and hormonal mommy, still waiting for this to pass.
Luke and I made a pit stop at California Pizza kitchen (though nothing sounded good with the butterflies in my stomach about the night I was about to experience) Luke kept telling me to "chill out, and relax" and I tried explaining what I was about to do, there was no chilling out.
After a quick bite we were on our way to the hospital, checked in to labor and delivery and around 8:30 pm pitocen was started. I was between 2-3 cm and still just 50% effaced. Pitocen was started slow in an effort to efface me more. Hours went by, nothing happened, no progress, contractions were there but not regular and not super strong... Midnight rolled around and nurses changed shifts, nurses said things like "long" and "6am, we'll talk about breaking water" I had it in my head I would get induced that night and have my son around 3,4,5 in the morning. I wont even go in to how many melt downs I had that night, it was so hard to be naked, venerable, tired exhausted, and having nothing happen. They would up the pitocen and still nothing. I would get excited when contractions got stronger and regular (isn't it supposed to be the other way around?) only to get let down when still...nothing... happened.
I had a couple friends I would text in the middle of the night but for the most part, the night was quiet, I called mom and told her to sleep, things were going to be long. Around 5 am I started getting excited, and was debating getting epidural knowing they were breaking my water at 6 am. I decided against it since I still was not in a lot of pain. I was worried because you hear how bad things are after water breaks but I was fine. They came in, broke my water, she said she "pulled down" on cervix to try and get things moving.... I was still 3 cm.
People woke up and texts started rolling in, everyone was expecting to wake up to a picture of my boy. I had one mass text going on all throughout labor with my close girlfriends, and it may have saved my sanity and daddys life a few times. Thanks girls!
Around 7:30 the epi was ordered things were happening and I was uncomfortable, not a lot of change and I didn't want to slow things down but I wanted to relax. Luke's mom was a trooper and had been with me since 11 pm the night before, my mom showed up and Luke went down to breakfast. I don't remember the timing after this but I went from a 5 to a 6 and then a few hours later to a 9.... a 9..... I started at 2 and 14-15 hours later I was finally in for the home stretch and about to meet this stubborn little boy. I don't blame him it was a cold January night and he was warm and comfy, I'd stay in too. My sister showed up, it was great to see her, a new face. I remember hugging my mom and sister and just crying, it had been one of the longest nights of my life. Luke was a trooper through the night too, I think guys just don't know what to do or say and its got to be hard to see someone you love so miserable. But its kinda hard to be on a birth ball all night and watch your husband sleep too.
I went from 9-10 in about a 1/2 hour and high fives were thrown all around..... I needed a minute. This was it, doctor was being called. I kicked everyone out... Luke started to walk out with them... ohh no buddy your in here for good now.
Right then just him and I, I told him to go get the nurse, the baby was coming out, NOW. Luke is very mild tempered (opposites attract) he said "she'll be right back" I went on to say "NOW" and he went out the door, when she checked again, she said "Um Let me get Dr. Meadows to come NOW, he's coming!"
I told Luke to go get the girls and get ready, this was it!
And less than two pushes, 5 minutes later, before the baby nurse was even in the room, my sweet sweet son was placed directly on me, he was the most precious perfect sweet thing I had ever seen and I was instantly in love. I couldn't believe it, he was here, he was perfect, and after that long night, God was looking over me and made it go quick. My doctor finished with saying "This was one of the easiest deliveries I've ever had"
I had kept his name a secret as best as I could, I loved that it was our own little secret, though Luke's mom guessed it and I accidentally outed it to my mom reading something to her.... my sister still didn't know, and no one knew his middle name. My sister was taking pictures but kept asking... whats his name? Do you want to name your son?
And I replied with tears streaming down my face....

"Please meet Parker Adeline"

Grandma Adeline passed away soon after William was born, Parker was born on her birthday January 17 and I will forever believe he is a gift from heaven sent directly from her.

The next day and a half was spent nursing and snuggling this little guy, and introducing him to some very important people.

38/39 weeks and our last weekend!

UGH I'm so mad... I had this whole nice blog post written out yesterday and I came back to my computer at work and the internet had crashed saving nothing. I guess that's what happens when you have 10+ windows open at once. I was too annoyed to even want to write anything else but I would like to look back on this someday so here it goes.... and if this is all I get done on my last day of work, so be it. Kidding... obviously.

Friday, January 11, 2013, 38.5 weeks pregnant I took the day off work and spent the morning at the park with Will. Yes in January, yes it was awesome and much needed for my two year old. Then I spent the afternoon at the doctor. It was my regular check up, I had gained two pounds in a week (I was actually happy about this given the no gain the week before, ttl gain now 19 pounds) and I opted for a non stress test to make sure my sweet baby boy was doing okay in there. After about 40 minutes on the machine we came to one conclusion I in fact was contracting very regularly, and he was handling the contractions and everything just fine. I went on to tell my doctor how "done" I was, the aches and pains, the stress of the unknowns, and the needing a plan for Will. I admitted to her I knew I was a crazy mom but with more tears in my eyes I think we both knew what I needed....an end date. I didn't know if they would make me go till 40 weeks, but thank the lord this new doctor is my kinda gal. She stripped my membranes, said I was 2 cm & 50% with a very favorable cervix, and scheduled me for an induction this Wednesday or Thursday. She went on to tell me she would be very surprised if I made it this long given the contractions and the way things were looking, but for me just having a date and a plan, I was overjoyed. Overjoyed and also a bit emotional, Thursday the 17th is my grandma ad's birthday, I know from day one of this pregnancy she was up in heaven holding this sweet baby boy till he was ready to be sent to me and this just made it so much more real.

After 2+ hours at the doctor I was rushing to get home and got a speeding ticket, its my fault I speed all the time, but I was pissed. I was in a hurry because Luke had to leave, he had to go out of town for the weekend. We were not planning on him being gone for the last weekend but it was that or go in a couple weeks when I would have a newborn so it was the best choice for us. I was scared to be this prego and be at it alone with Will all weekend but it was actually a huge blessing. We got in some really good play time Friday night and Saturday morning. He was on his best behavior and I really couldn't of asked for more. By 11 am Saturday the contractions were strong and I was now shaking badly, to the point I couldn't text. I made Will an early lunch and plopped him in his seat with a show while I sat down and chugged some water. I didn't think this was "it" but I was also a little scared I think I over did it and my body was saying slooooow down. Not long later we were both asleep for naps and I was feeling better.
My mom had Will spend the night Saturday so I could go to dinner with some friends and sleep in. Dinner was great so good to get out and laugh, but sleeping in was ahhhhmazing! Then I got some more nesting, shopping, and preparing on my last weekend day before baby. By 4 pm my boys got home, and it hit me. This was our last quiet weekend night as a family of three. Boomer and Will were running around chasing like crazy, Luke and I made a yummy dinner, bath was given, and lots of snuggles were enjoyed.

I'm going to miss these sweet kicks!
I am so excited to meet my sweet baby boy, see his beautiful face, kiss him all over, and share his name with the world. I cant wait to see the pure love on Luke's face when he holds his second son for the first time and meets him face to face. And seeing Will run through the door to meet his baby brother is most likely going to be one of the best moments of my life.

Baby boy,
I feel like I've known you forever, I couldn't be more in love with you if I tried and I cant wait for you to join our sweet little family. It's a bit chaotic at times but it is full of love, care, and you will always have trusting parents and family to turn to.

39 weeks, my last day of work.
